Monte Cristo

ABV 11,5%

In 1841, Alexandre Dumas sailed with the son of Jerome Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon Bonaparte, to the islands of Elba and Monte Cristo.
It was a journey so inspiring for Alexandre that he turned his stories of treasure and pirates into the legendary novel ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ in 1844.

style

Monte Cristo is a fascinating dark specialty beer, smooth with a complex character. At the base of its unique taste and colour lies a blend of four malts.

Appearance

Monte Cristo is a brown beer. The addition of caramelised and roasted malt gives Monte Cristo its mysterious deep brown colour with ruby and red hues.

Flavour

The blend of four malts and addition of caramelised and roasted malt gives a warm balanced and fabulous full flavour.

aroma

The beer is aged on oak and cherry, resulting in a balanced marriage of subtle spicy notes, complemented by hints of caramel and a touch of hazelnut. A reminder of its light maderization through a range of woody aromas as soft vanilla notes and deep flavours of old oak.

The story of the adventurer Dantes, who finds a treasure on a distant island, is an enduring mystery. A story so intensely captivating that it inspired the Bosteels Brewery to create their very own mysterious adventure.
An intense fascination in the quest of adventure that can be tasted in the beer.

Bosteels Brewery’s own Monte Cristo is a strong, full-bodied beer. But balanced, complex and refined as well. It’s a beer full of passion and mastery that captivates until the very last sip.

A Beer for Ageing

Eleven weeks gives Monte Cristo time to unite flavours and aromas. Eleven weeks to obtain a perfect balance between the vanilla notes of oak and the vinous character of sherry.
During this long and very particular process of maturation, the beer is given the perfect amount of time to develop its full identity. With its 11.5% alcohol and its warm spiciness, Monte Cristo is a storage beer par excellence, an adventurous treasure for any beer lover.
